Scope before claims

Physical resilience is one layer of a complete recovery system.

AegisSeed hardware is designed to keep a legible offline record under buyer-defined controls. It cannot secure weak secret generation, poor access policy, or an untested recovery process.

Threat model

What physical media can—and cannot—address.

Helps reduce

  • Dependence on cloud photos or notes
  • Damage risks associated with paper alone
  • Unclear, improvised recording formats

Requires buyer controls

  • Unauthorized physical access
  • Location and personnel concentration
  • Transport, inspection, and recovery

Outside product scope

  • Wallet or entropy security
  • Malware and signing controls
  • Custody, legal, or compliance decisions

Evidence-led evaluation

Match every claim to a test.

Ask which product variant was tested, under which method, for how long, against which acceptance criteria, and whether the supplied batch remains equivalent.

Material identityAlloy, dimensions, finish, and traceability
Environmental exposureMethod, duration, specimen, result, and limit
LegibilityMarking tool, depth, character set, and post-test reading
ProductionInspection plan and change-control record

Safe evaluation rules

  • Use invented, clearly invalid sample words
  • Never email or upload a real phrase
  • Test the full recovery procedure offline
  • Keep identifying labels separate from secrets
  • Record exceptions without copying secret data

Security FAQ

Limits stated plainly.

Is any physical device fireproof or indestructible?

No. Products have defined materials and test conditions, not unlimited protection. Review applicable evidence and design redundancy for risks outside that evidence.

Should a backup be photographed for convenience?

No. A photo can create uncontrolled digital copies and metadata. Follow your approved offline handling process.

Does AegisSeed certify a buyer's recovery design?

No. Buyers remain responsible for system architecture, policy, implementation, testing, and compliance.
